Members Plus
Subscription plans, the paywall, coupons and what happens when a subscription ends.
Members Plus is a paid module. It turns part of a community into a membership, and it does it through the group matrix rather than through a parallel permission system.
Plans#
Members Plus > Plans holds them. A plan carries:
- a name, a description, a cover and a position in the list;
- an initial price and an initial term;
- a renewal term, or a lifetime option;
- an optional trial;
- the primary group the member moves into, plus any secondary groups;
- what happens to those groups when the subscription expires.
How access actually works#
A paid plan moves the member into a group. Every paywall rule reads groups. So a member with an active subscription is simply a member of a group that has permission, and every module you install already understands that.
The paywall#
Members Plus > Paywall creates the rules. A rule points at a forum, a category, a page or a content type, lists the plans that unlock it, and picks between hiding the content and showing a teaser with a call to action.
Coupons#
Percentage or fixed amount, applied to the first payment, with limits per member, per plan, in total and by date. A coupon is released again if the order it was attached to never completes.
Upgrades and downgrades#
Changing plans is prorated: the unused part of the current term is credited against the new one. This is the part most subscription plugins get wrong, and it is worth testing once with a small plan before you launch.
Cancellation#
The cancellation flow asks for a reason, records an internal note and can show a retention offer you configure. Staff can also cancel from the subscribers screen.
Subscribers and reports#
Members Plus > Subscribers lists everyone with filters and search, and lets you grant a subscription without charging, adjust an expiry date, recalculate a subscription or cancel one.
Members Plus > Reports shows active members, normalised monthly revenue, revenue over the last thirty days and churn, with a CSV export of transactions and of subscribers.
When a subscription expires#
The member returns to the group you configured and the paywall applies again. Nothing is deleted, so renewing restores access immediately, along with every post they wrote while subscribed.
