Community forum
Forums, topics and replies, and the moderation tools around them.
The Community module is the forum. It ships with the core license and is enabled by default.
Structure#
Forums are organised in a tree: categories hold forums, and a forum can hold sub-forums. Each forum has its own permissions, so a group can be allowed to read one forum, post in another and see nothing of a third.
Community > Forums is where you create and reorder them.
Topics and replies#
A topic is started by a member and holds replies. Depending on the permissions of the group, a member can:
- start a topic and reply to one;
- attach a poll to a topic;
- react to a post;
- mark a reply as the best answer, when the topic is theirs;
- edit or delete their own posts inside the window you configure.
Moderation#
Everything a moderator needs is grouped under Community:

Moderators are scoped. A moderator of one forum has no power in another, which is what lets you hand a section to the person who cares about it without handing them the site.
Warnings#
A warning carries a reason, a note and an optional consequence: restricting posting, moderating the member's next posts, or a suspension. Warnings expire on the schedule you configure, so a member is not punished forever for one bad week.
Search#
Search covers the forum and every other installed module from one box, and it respects permissions: a member never sees a result from a forum they cannot read.
Settings#
System > Settings > Posting and editor covers the editor, attachments, the edit window and the flood control. Those apply to the blog too, because the editor is shared.
