Bondry vs WordPress with LMS and membership plugins

WordPress is free and extensible, and most features come from plugins. Bondry offers the same areas as one product with one admin panel and one update path.

  • What WordPress does well

WordPress is a free, widely used publishing platform with a vast ecosystem of themes, plugins, hosts and agencies. Almost any feature exists as a plugin, often from several vendors.

  • Who should choose WordPress

Choose WordPress if content and publishing come first, you want the widest choice of plugins and service providers, or you already run a WordPress site that you want to extend.

  • Who should choose Bondry

Choose Bondry if you want community, memberships and courses from one vendor, with one admin panel and one update path, instead of coordinating several plugins that renew separately.

Prices checked on 10 October 2026 on the vendors' public pricing pages; they can change; hosting, domains and taxes are not included unless stated.

Feature comparison

Based on each vendor's public documentation. Included means part of the base product, Add-on means an official add-on or module, Third-party plugin means a separate vendor's product.

$349.00 $200.00 $749.00 $349.00 + 2 x $200.00 = $749.00

The software keeps running without an extension, and security fixes continue for 12 months after the window, but the comparison counts every year of updates on both sides.

Plugin subscriptions are priced per site, and keeping updates and support means renewing each one. MemberPress also charges a transaction fee on payments, shown in the price table and not included in these totals. Hosting is not included for any option.

What Bondry does not do

A comparison is only useful if it says where the other options are stronger. Today Bondry does not offer the following.

  • Cloud hosting. Bondry is self-hosted, so you provide the server, the backups and the domain.
  • A marketplace of thousands of add-ons. The catalogue is the core and four official modules.
  • A WooCommerce-style store. Payments and memberships are built in, but there is no full product catalogue with shipping and inventory.
  • A long track record. Bondry is a newer product with a smaller community, fewer tutorials and fewer third-party developers.
  • A media gallery. Members can attach images to posts, but there is no album or gallery module.
  • A downloads and resources manager. Files are attachments on posts only.
  • Events and a calendar.
  • Clubs. Member groups exist for permissions, not as clubs with their own space.
